Conclusions

Periods of minimum physical activity can be identified reliably using the methods described above, given uncorrected ECG annotations of the quality obtained by ARISTOTLE on the test recordings. This technique should be particularly useful in multi-patient studies of heart rate variability as a means of reducing intra-patient variability, when independent records of physical activity are not available.
