Waveform Viewer
After a user has clicked the 'Load Record' button within the 'Record Selection' tab, the 'Waveform Viewer' tab will automatically become active. An initial grid with interval values of 0.2 seconds and 0.5mV will display the associated waveform over a particular timespan. If any particular annotators were selected in the 'Record Selection' tab, they will be visible as well. There are currently three methods which allow a user to traverse the data of a waveform. To make use of these methods turn your attention to the 'Record Navigation' panel of tools in the bottom-center of the 'Waveform Viewer' tab.
The first method of navigation that will be disscussed is viewing a waveform as a'movie'. As the user hovers over the media toolbar various associated descriptions appear. Use these tool tips to help identify your desired course of action. To start viewing as a movie, simply click the 'Play Waveform as movie' button. If at any time during the movie the user would like to stop, simply click the the 'Pause waveform' button to the left, and the 'Play' button to again resume the movie.
The second method of navigation is by using the 'Next' and 'Previous' waveform buttons. Four such buttons exist, comprising the ability to advance a half timespan or full timespan in forward or back direction depending on the users navigational preferences.
The third method of navigation is by way of waveform annotations. Please note this feature is only possible to use if the user selected an 'annotator' in the initial 'Record Selection' tab. To use this feature simply click the drop-down box in the 'Record Navigation' panel which is comprised of annotation characters. The user's selection will be set to active and the user can then press the 'next' or 'prev' button to traverse to the next instance of the selected annotation.
The 'Reset' button allows the user to stop viewing the waveform, re-initialize the location of the selected record to time 0:0:0:0 and also re-initialize the zoom and speed slider controls to their default postitions.
Signal Visability
Often times the combined visualization of serval signals at once can become a difficult display to understand and keep track of. If a record with multiple signals is being viewed Hermes allows the user to simply 'right-click' over the waveform canvas so long as it is not currently being viewed as a movie and a popup menu of the available signals appears. From this popup the individual signal visibilties can be shown or hidden at the users disscretion in order to aid in creating a less convoluted visualization of the signals of interest.
