MIMIC II: Waveform Database Overview

The new PhysioNet website is available at: https://physionet.org. We welcome your feedback.

The MIMIC II Waveform Database is part of the MIMIC II Database. The Waveform Database contains thousands of records of continuously digitized physiologic waveforms and simultaneously recorded time series (trends) of physiologic measurements. Some records also contain alarm annotations and signal quality indexes. The Waveform Database is open to public access free of charge.

The Waveform Database originally consisted of nearly 2800 "waveform" records containing up to four 8-bit signals, each sampled at 125 Hz, with companion "numerics" records containing up to 30 time series of measurements, each recorded once per minute. Upgraded hardware and software allowed acquisition of several thousand additional waveform records containing up to eight 10-bit signals (still sampled at 125 Hz), with companion "numerics" records of up to 30 time series each recorded once per second.

For a more detailed description of recording parameters, please see Section 2.3.1 of the MIMIC II User's Guide.
